Maschere possono uccidere balena, così mentre il mondo combatte la pandemia di coronavirus, sempre più dispositivi di protezione stanno finendo in mare. Per questo motivo #PFW sta sollecitando l’attenzione di tutti da diversi mesi e sta promuovendo mascherine e filtri biodegradabili.
A livello globale stiamo utilizzando 129 miliardi di maschere per il viso e 65 miliardi di guanti di plastica ogni mese, secondo alcune stime.
E i subacquei e gli osservatori stanno individuando una quantità maggiore di questi rifiuti scartati galleggiare sott’acqua, causando problemi alla fauna selvatica e spazzando via le coste di tutto il mondo.

As the world battles the coronavirus pandemic, more and more protective equipment is ending up in the sea. This is the reason why #PFW is raising attention to the problem since several months and it is promoting biodegradabile masks and filters.
Globally we are using 129 billion face masks and 65 billion plastic gloves every month, according to some estimates.
And divers and observers are spotting more of this discarded waste floating underwater, causing problems for wildlife and washing up on shorelines all over the world.
